Recipe – Broccoli and Cheese Bites

Ingredients:

  • Broccoli florets
  • Grated mild cheddar cheese (or a cheese of your choice)
  • Whole wheat bread crumbs (optional)
  • Egg (optional, for binding)

Instructions:

  • Steam the broccoli florets until they are soft and tender.
  • Allow the steamed broccoli to cool slightly, then finely chop or mash it.
  • In a bowl, combine the chopped/mashed broccoli with a small amount of grated cheese.
  • If using, add a little whole wheat bread crumbs to the mixture for added texture.
  • If desired, beat an egg and mix it into the broccoli-cheese mixture to help bind the bites.
  • Form small bite-sized portions using your hands and gently flatten them slightly.
  • Place the broccoli and cheese bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes, or until the bites are cooked through and the cheese is melted.
  • Allow the bites to cool before offering them to your baby.

These bites provide a balanced combination of broccoli and cheese, offering both nutrition and flavour. Make sure the bites are cooled to an appropriate temperature before serving them to your baby. Always ensure the texture is suitable for your baby’s age and chewing ability. As with any new food, monitor your baby’s response and consult your pediatrician if you have any concerns.
